San Angelo Nature Center
The San Angelo Nature Center has animals and exhibits related to the natural history of the Southwest. Among the animals are bobcats, skunks, a porcupine, hissing cockroaches, tarantulas, scorpions, turtles, lizards, and snakes. If you have children who are crazy about animals - or you're just crazy about them yourself - we encourage you to come see.
Most of the critters are of a smaller variety: skunk, raccoon, cottontail, and chinchilla. Some slither such as the desert kingsnake, plains hognose, and checkered garter snake. Others purr, but you won't want to pet the mountain lion or bobcats.
The center is open from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays. Admission is $3 for people age 13 and older, $2 for kids ages 4-12, and free for kids age 3 and younger. Information: 325-942-0121.
