Lady in Blue

View the two beautiful statues and historical markers on the river walk. They serve as reminders of the first Mass celebrated in the area and the meeting between the Franciscans and Jumanos, possibly arranged by the Lady in Blue.

Among the earliest inhabitants of the Concho River Valley were the Jumanos Indians. According to tribal legend, they were visited by a young Franciscan nun wearing a blue cape bringing gifts and knowledge to them.

The bronze statues, done by San Angelo native Vic Payne, were unveiled in 2018.

Located behind 141 East Concho Avenue on the riverwalk.
