Mason County

Mason County is named after Fort Mason and was created in 1858. The county seat is Mason. 

The first telephone was installed at the courthouse in 1902. The present-day courthouse was built in 1910. On February 4, 2021, an arsonist set fire to the building. The flames gutted the building. After three years of renovations, it was rededication on Saturday, July 13, 2024.

At the 2020 census, its population was 3,953.
